East Lansing sanctuary church to help families

Some local churches are working together to protect families coming into the US. It's the beginning of a collaborative effort to keep families safe and together.

The Lansing-based All Saints Episcopal will serve as the sanctuary church.

Once it has the capacity to help, Cristo Rey Catholic Church and four other local churches will offer support. All Saints will have a room ready with a shower and access to a kitchen for one or two people in need.

This plan comes to fruition after extensive study, training and prayer by the faith community.

They hope to provide immediate assistance to Lansing families affected by what they call a "broken and unfair immigration system."
