An early morning fire at a home in Lansing forces a family to evacuate.
Lansing firefighters were called to a two-story house at 841 Baker Street just after 5 a.m. The fire department is reporting that a large fire was on the second floor of the home which did spread to the attic.
There was heavy smoke and even some flames, but firefighters were able to get the blaze under control very quickly. Three adults and two children inside the home were able to get out safely. The American Red Cross is helping the displaced family.
The family says they were woken up by their smoke detectors going off.
The cause of the fire is under investigation but the officer in charge told News 10 that the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
