Drivers expect delays as road work begins in Hillsdale Co.

Posted

A two-week long construction project begins Monday in Hillsdale County.

M-49 and M-99 railroad crossings will be closed in Hillsdale County starting June 11 at 7 AM.

The Indiana Northeastern Railroad Company (INNE) will be rebuilding railroad grade crossings at three locations.

One on M-49, north of Allen Township, the second just south of the village of Reading, and the third on M-99 between the cities of Jonesville and Hillsdale.

INNE will be completing this work under permit from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).

There will be detours posted for drivers.

After completed, the crossing will have upgraded grade that will provide a smoother surface for motorists.

The project isn't expected to be completed until June 23, 2018.
