SHAFTSBURG, Mich. — A 14-year-old girl was killed in an accident early Sunday morning in Shaftsburg, Shiawassee County.

Police say the driver connected to the deadly crash is expected to be charged with a felony.

Shiawassee County Sheriff's Office says that Hannah Hidalgo of Haslett was struck while walking across Lansing Road near the intersection of Shaftsburg Road at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.

Deputies say alcohol is believed to be a factor.

The Sheriff's office was assisted by the Michigan State Police, Perry Police, and the L.S.W. Fire Department.
