SHAFTSBURG, Mich. — A 14-year-old girl was killed in an accident early Sunday morning in Shaftsburg, Shiawassee County.
Police say the driver connected to the deadly crash is expected to be charged with a felony.
Shiawassee County Sheriff's Office says that Hannah Hidalgo of Haslett was struck while walking across Lansing Road near the intersection of Shaftsburg Road at about 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
Deputies say alcohol is believed to be a factor.
The driver of the car, a 24-year-old East Lansing man, was arrested, and police say he was drunk when the crash happened.
The Sheriff's office was assisted by the Michigan State Police, Perry Police, and the L.S.W. Fire Department.
