Driver ID'd in fatal three-car crash

MERIDIAN TWP., Mich. — One person is dead and multiple others are injured in a three-vehicle crash.

Just before 3 p.m on Feb. 22, Meridian Township Police were dispatched to the area of Mount Hope Road and Comanche Drive for a three vehicle crash.

The crash occurred when a vehicle that was traveling eastbound on Mount Hope Road lost control and drove into oncoming westbound traffic striking two other vehicles. The jaws of life had to be used to get one female out of a vehicle.

The crash resulted in one death and injuries to multiple others.

The driver who was killed has been identified as Ronald Spitzley, 53, or Lansing.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in this incident.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

The Meridian Township Police Department was assisted by the Michigan State University Police, Ingham County Sheriff’s Office, and the Lansing Police Department.
