Driver arrested for operating while impaired after causing serious injury

A suspected drunk driver causes an accident in Jackson.

It happened on Tuesday, April 10, at around 11:23 PM. Deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff's Office responded to the intersection of West Franklin and 24th Street in Summit Township.

They have determined that a lone vehicle was westbound on West Franklin Avenue and failed to stop at a intersection crashing into a group of trees.

Two people were transported to Henry Ford Allegiance Health for medical treatment. One passenger, a 28-year-old woman suffered serious injuries.

The other passenger had only minor injuries.

The driver, a 22-year-old Jackson man, was suspected to be operating under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested for operating while impaired causing injury.

The crash is under investigation due to severity of the injuries.
