The Michigan Office of Highway Safety Planning is getting a head start on patrolling drunk drivers.

The OHSP and law officials are announcing the "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" initiative.

The crackdown on drinking and driving comes ahead of the Labor Day weekend.

There will be an increase of drunk driving enforcement patrols starting Friday, August 17 until September 3.

FOX 47's Marcus Dash was present for the announcement Friday in Lansing.

He was able to participate in the "beer googles" program. The googles impaired his vision as if he had a blood alcohol content of .08%. He was asked to walk a straight line and hold his leg out straight for a few seconds.
