PORTLAND, Mich. — The city of Portland is holding an event on Thursday to raise money for small businesses affected by recent flooding.
It's holding an event called "Wine About The Ice Jam 2019."
It kicks off at 5 and runs until 8 p.m. at 259 Kent. St. in Portland.
There will be wine and beverage samples, sweets, prizes and more at the fundraiser.
Organizers hope people will "walk about" and support local businesses, shop, and find unique items or pamper yourself during the event.
ConfluxCity Brewing Co., Hot Shots Tavern and Fabiano's River House Grill will be providing samples.
A fun angle to the event is that organizers will be "floating" to various locations and posting where they are live on Facebook - look for "where are the waders" to find them.
Then, locate them at the location they are in to get gifts and register for
prizes.
These businesses are participating: The Blue Mason Jar, Mary's Cove Gifts & More, Vintage Tanning, Michigan Steele and Trim, Studio 176, Service Group, Duff Chadwick & Associates, P.C., Escape Rooms, Hometown Sports, RCP Artist Services, Pizza Shops, Fabricated Customs, Make Ya Double Take, Cutting Edge, ad Styles on the Grand.
