The City of Lansing wants to remind all residents to avoid parking on side streets.
Mayor Bernero sent out a notice asking all Lansing residents to not park on on streets that need to be plowed for the next 48 hours. This will help the city's snow clearing efforts.
Technically, overnight parking on city streets is already against the law between 2 and 5 a.m. and violators who block plowing operations will receive a ticket.
Once the street is cleared, normal parking, permitted by ordinances, is allowed.
Bernero added that there are more than 400 miles to plow in Lansing and that crews will be busy clearing main roads and local streets around-the-clock for the next 24-48 hours.
And remember, exercise caution while driving and be extra careful around the city's plowing equipment.
