District responds to arrest of assistant basketball coach

The Webberville School District is responding to the arrest of an assistant basketball coach on child sex abuse charges.

They sent us a statement reading: "The Webberville school officials were made aware of an alleged inappropriate situation involving a former assistant basketball coach and a former student. This volunteer has not been involved with the team during the current school year and the district is cooperating with law enforcement. Student safety remains a top priority for the district. Due to ongoing investigation and legal process, the district cannot comment further at this time."

Kenneth Thomas Tennant, age 47, is accused of raping a teenage girl between the age of 13 and 15.
