Mason could be getting it's first national chain hotel.
A developer is proposing a combination Main Stay Suites and Sleep Inn at a vacant property on W. Kipp Road, West of U.S 127.
The four story hotel would include 72 rooms and a conference center.
Mason has been trying to attract a hotel over the past few years, according to a news release. The city says a feasibility study, which took into account travel stays by businesses in the area, indicated the community could support a hotel and conference center.
The city is currently reviewing the proposal. The public will have the opportunity to provide feedback during open houses at City Hall on April 7, from 9:30 a.m- 1:30 p.m, and April 10, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The second open house will be followed by a public hearing during the Planning Commission Meeting.
If approved by the city, the developer hopes to start construction this summer, and possibly open in early 2019.
