Detroit Water Shut-offs

Posted

The city of Detroit shut-off water service to over twenty three thousand homes while leaving water on at thousands of businesses that owed money last year.

That's according to documents obtained by The Detroit News.

The records show businesses and "government owned properties" owed forty one million dollars.

However, only 680 lost service in 2015.

The total cost owed by home homeowners was twenty six million dollars.

Last fall -- records show the city averaged two thousand residential shut-offs per-week.
