Detroit economic and neighborhood revitalization efforts are getting a boost through new investments in community organizations.
Officials announced Wednesday that the Community Foundation for Southeast Michigan is getting $245,000 in funding from the Max M. & Marjorie S. Fisher Foundation and the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
Roughly $100,000 from the Fisher Foundation seeks to improve the Brightmoor neighborhood by investing in 28 community organizations. About $150,000 from the Knight Foundation will help fund talent and leadership development at 10 Detroit-based organizations.
The Community Foundation promotes community philanthropy in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Monroe, Washtenaw, Livingston and St. Clair counties.
