A Clinton County woman almost lost eight thousand dollars to a phone scam, but quick work by local officers saved her money.
The unnamed woman received a call from a person imitating her "grandson" asking for money. Believing the story to be true, she sent $8,000 via UPS.
Realizing her address shortly later, she called Clinton County officers, who were able to stop her package before it arrived.
Officers wants to warn all residents in the area, telling locals that scammers "appeal to emotions- fear, excitement, or love, they will try and use any or all of them.'
If you receive a call that you believe is a scam, do not give any money over the phone or through mail, and call your local police department.
