JACKSON, Mich. (WSYM) - Two men were arrested after police found weapons and a stolen handgun inside their vehicle.
Jackson County Sheriff deputies stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Elm and Pringle streets on Friday afternoon around 5 p.m.
As deputies approached the vehicle, the passenger attempted to flee the scene.
A loaded .45 caliber handgun was found on the passenger. The handgun was reported stolen out of Ypsilanti.
Deputies also found a loaded short-barreled AK47 style assault rifle inside the vehicle.
The 21-year-old driver and 20-year-old passenger were both arrested.
The driver was arrested for Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW) and possession of a short barreled rifle.
The passenger was arrested for Carrying a Concealed Weapon (CCW), possession of a stolen firearm and resisting/opposing arrest.
A request for charges has been sent to the Jackson County Prosecutors Office.
The suspects are thought to be persons of interest in an earlier shooting in Jackson.
