LANSING, Mich. (WSYM) - A Mid-Michigan organization is doing what they can to help community members without dental insurance.
The Schaefer Dental Group held its second annual free day of dental for uninsured adults Saturday for Lansing and its surrounding areas.
The dental group provided basic dental cleanings, examinations, restorations and extractions for those in need.
“Nothing feels better than having someone come in, they’re a little scared, they’re anxious and they’re in discomfort and when they leave there is a smile on their face,” said Doctor Karin Moore, a dentist at Schaefer Dental Group. “It's just fantastic, we've gotten a lot of hugs today."
The organization says they believe dental care is directly related to a patient's overall health.
114 people stopped by to have work done Saturday, up from 55 people when the event was last held in 2015.
The Schaefer Dental Group says this event will now become an annual one.
Schaefer Dental Group is located on 4911 W St Joseph Hwy Suite 202 in Lansing.
