LANSING, Mich. — Federal judges are expected to start a trial on a lawsuit to declare Michigan's Congressional and Legislative districts unconstitutional.
A U.S. Supreme Court justice denied a request to delay the trial Monday night.
A lawsuit is seeking to force changes to republican-drawn districts prior to the 2020 election.
A voter-approved independent redistricting commission will be in charge of drawing districts for the State House, State Senate, and Michigan's 14 seats in the U.S. House of Representative starting in 2020.
