Prepare for demolition. The East Lansing Mayor, Mark Meadows, has signed the Master Development Agreement for the Center City District redevelopment project and demolition is scheduled to begin in downtown East Lansing next week.
Which means you should avoid the Albert Avenue Lot (lot 1) at 230 Albert starting Monday, November 6.
That lot will be closed to the public to be used as the staging site for the demolition project.
To accommodate the demolition and the construction to come, there will be a lane closure on Albert Avenue, between Abbot Road and the east end of the Albert Avenue Lot.
There will also be a sidewalk closure on Grand River Avenue in the project area between 125 and 209 E. Grand River Ave.
Detour signs will be in place for walkers. And all businesses will remain open during this time.
