The top Democrat on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform is asking the chairman to subpoena Governor Rick Snyder.
Rep. Elijah Cummings wants to question the Governor about exactly when he learned about an outbreak of Legionnaire's Disease connected to Flint's water supply.
When the Governor testified before the committee on March 17, 2016 he said he was told about it in January of 2016. But earlier this month Michigan Director of Urban Initiatives Harvey Hollins III testified in court that he told the Governor in December of 2015. Chairman Trey Gowdy sent a letter to the Governor asking him to clear up the discrepancy. He quickly released a statement saying he reviewed his testimony and saw no need to clarify it.
In a letter to Chairman Gowdy, Representative Cummings claims Governor Snyder has already failed to provide all documents requested by the committee.
He goes on to say "Governor Snyder has been obstructing our investigation for months, and it is now clear that the only way he will turn over the documents we asked for is if he is compelled to do so."
The Chairman has not responded publicly to the letter. FOX 47 News will update you when he does and will let you know immediately if a subpoena is issued.
