Fire destroys a pole barn in Delta Township, killing some livestock inside.
Firefighters arrived at the barn located on Delta River Driver around 1:30 a.m. It took firefighters from several departments including Delta, Lansing Township, Lansing City and DeWitt Township about 30-45 minutes to put out the blaze.
The fire did cause some minor damage to the siding of a nearby house, but no one in that house was hurt. The pole barn is a total loss. Delta Fire tells FOX 47 News, 15 chickens and two goats inside the barn died.
No firefighter was hurt fighting the blaze. Fire investigators will return to the scene later today to try and figure out what caused the flames.
