The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says a deer killed by a bow hunter earlier this month may have Chronic Wasting Disease.
The one year old doe was killed in Clinton County's Watertown Township. If tests sent to a lab in Iowa come back positive, it would be the fifth Michigan deer confirmed to have CWD.
Earlier this year, Michigan's first case of CWD was confirmed in Meridian Township. Four deer in total with the disease have been identified in Clinton and Ingham Counties.
The findings have prompted the DNR to schedule a town hall meeting next month in DeWitt Township, to inform area residents what this means for them.
