A cyber attack on the Lansing Board of Water and Light has cost the company nearly 2 million dollars according to the Lansing State Journal. The BWL used the money for technical support and equipment to upgrade its security.

The attack did include a ransom payment but BWL officials have not said whether that ransom was paid.

Local, state and federal authorities are investigating the attack.
