After a nice Mexican dinner at Los Tres Amigos, Dan Ellenwood and his wife found themselves in a whole lot of trouble.
"We were backing out, went to pull forward and the truck fell,” Ellenwood said. “And that was where it stayed."
To put a stop to this big truck, you know that this hole has to be huge.
"Probably 16, 18 inches deep," Ellenwood said.
It's a broken drain pipe. Sitting smack dab in the middle of the parking lot in Michigan Center. Normally it's covered up with an orange cone, concrete and a piece of plywood... But the night Dan got his truck stuck... Standing water had caused it to float away.
“When there's water in the parking lot, you can't tell there's a hole there," Ellenwood said. "I'm surprised nobody's injured themselves. I'm curious as to why it's still there."
I went to Los Tres Amigos to find out. The restaurant supervisor Jose says they've had a contractor come out a few times to look at the broken drain. He says they started the process weeks ago, but it's been slow. The good news is... Workers are supposed to start fixing the hole... Wednesday.
