Crowd Funding Used For Funding New Farmers Market

Posted

Meridian Township is taking a 21st century approach to paying for a new farmers market.

The township launched a crowdfunding campaign through a platform called Patronicity. If the campaign reaches it's goal of $50,000 by February 8th, it'll get a matching grant from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation.

The project calls for building a pavilion near a vacant lot on the north side of the Meridian Mall complete with restrooms, a playground, a performance stage, a plaza, and synthetic ice for year-round ice skating.

The entire project will cost about $1.2 million. Meridian Township says most of the project is paid for through tax dollars, donations and other grants.
