"Come and find a place of warm food, warm hearts and great welcome," Father Fred Thelen said. He is the pastor of Cristo Rey Church.
Cristo Rey Community Center is feeding everyone who wants a meal.
"At the end of the day we intend to serve a good 500 meals here," Joe Garcia, the executive director of Cristo Rey Community Center said.
It's been hosting these dinners for more than 20 years. And volunteers are serving up turkey, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie.
"Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a Thanskgiving meal,” Joe said. “And we want to make it more accessible to others."
And they are- because Cristo Rey isn't just providing food at the community center.
"We've already delivered more than 150 to go meals already," Joe said.
This Thanksgiving meal is bringing together the community.
"It's just such a great feeling when you can reach out and make the community better for everybody," Father Thelen said.
Around 200 volunteers helped to make the event a success
"This is a time of year where you want to be with your family and friends and see the good in people,” Garett Hawe, a volunteer said. “And trying to help anyone in need is such an amazing thing."The guests come from completely different backgrounds. But they're all grateful for this Thanksgiving meal.
"It was the best food I've had in a long time,” said Tom Zendler, a guest. “We really appreciate these dinners here."
The message Cristo Rey is bringing is clear to everybody- even kids.
"It's good for the people who want to come eat if you don't have nobody to eat with," Cameron Hanks said.
And it's events like these that help us remember what we should all be thankful for.
