LANSING, Mich. — The Lansing Housing Commission today announced its offices are closing beginning Monday, March 16, through Sunday, April 5, to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 Virus.
Despite the closure, all Housing Commission staff will work remotely or by appointment. Staff will continue to regularly respond to emails and voicemails.
“We join others in following government guidelines to protect our staff, residents and community,” said Doug Fleming, executive director of the Lansing Housing Commission. “We are taking additional steps to assist our residents with essential meals, hand sanitizers and suspension of facility use.”
In addition, the Lansing Housing Commission is working closely with the Lansing School District and Youth Haven to provide meals to children who normally eat during school hours. These organizations also are developing protocols to ensure residents are protected from disease transmission.
Residents will receive informational letters regarding staff availability and recommendations for COVID-19 Community Mitigation Strategies. Hand sanitizers are being placed in all sites. All new evictions also are suspended indefinitely.
“Safety and preventing the spread of this virus are our primary concerns. We will take every precaution necessary to proactively prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus,” said Fleming.
