A court hearing is scheduled Friday for the man facing more than a dozen felony charges.

32-year-old Michael Burton waived his right to a preliminary exam hearing on all the charges he's facing except a homicide charge last week.

A preliminary exam hearing on that charge is scheduled for Friday morning.

Burton is facing up to life in prison if convicted in the death of Lawrence McDonald.

Police say Burton shot and killed McDonald on Cleveland Street on May 9. Investigators say he tried to drive away from police but crashed on US 127 near Dunckel Road. That's when police say Burton carjacked a good Samaritan who pulled over to help him.

Burton was later arrested by police in Livingston County.

Friday's hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. in Lansing 54A District Court.

FOX 47 will be at the hearing and we'll let you know if anything happens during it.
