Could be months before we learn if Simon will go to trial

LANSING, Mich. — It could be several more months before we learn if Former MSU President Lou Anna K Simon will have a trial.

Simon's preliminary hearing wrapped up Tuesday night in the Eaton County District Court.

The prosecution is asking the judge to send the case to circuit court. They are arguing there's evidence Simon lied to police when she said she didn't know of Nassar's abuse before 2016.

However, the defense says that even if she did lie, there is no way to know it was deliberate.

Simon's attorney has a plan if there is a trial.

"Unlike this preliminary exam where we don't call witnesses, we would bring in all of our witnesses to testify at the trial if it gets to that," Lee Silver, defense attorney, said.

The prosecution now has 28 days to file a brief. The defense then has 21 days and prosecutors have two weeks to respond.

It could be several more weeks before we get a ruling.

We will keep you updated on what happens.
