LANSING, Mich. (WSYM) -- "The constant reinventing of our job, and how they want us to do our job sometimes it takes a lot out of you,"Lorraine Emory said. "We get the job done. We go home at the end of the day safe and that's what matters," she continued.
Not everyone gets that opportunity. The Michigan Corrections Officers are honoring four of Michigan's fallen officers.
"We don't ever want to forget them. Their names are George Haight, he was murdered in 1893, Earl DeMarse who died in 1973, Josphine McCallum, she passed away in 1987, and Jack Budd ,who also died in 1987,"Anita Lloyd, MCO Communications director, said.
The officers say this newly unveiled memorial will serve as a reminder to the new generation of corrections officers, as well as their families.
