Every police department in Ingham County was at the Walmart in the Eastwood Towne Center Saturday, but there was no emergency--just a lot of Christmas cheer for the annual "Shop With a Cop" event.

100 kids got paired up with local cops, and thanks to donations from the community, each kid had a hundred bucks to spend.

Ingham County Sheriff Gene Wriggelsworth praised the child he was paired with for the event, a girl named Mara.

"Mara shopped for everybody in her family before she shopped for herself. She's a very very giving young girl," he said.

Every year schools, law enforcement agencies, churches, and other groups get together to make sure the kids who participate are the ones who need it most.
