Controversial license plate bill up for debate

A hearing is scheduled for today on a bill that would allow the Michigan Secretary of State to offer "Choose Life" fundraising license plates.

The funds generated from sales of the license plates would go to organizations that promote "abortion alternatives."

The bill was introduced by Senator Patrick Colbeck, of Wayne County.

A similar bill was introduced last year--- but never got a vote.

Currently, 29 states and Washington, D.C. offer "Choose Life" license plates.
