Consumers Energy kicks off PowerMIDrive

LANSING, Mich. — Consumers Energy is kick-starting a new program.

PowerMIDrive is the program and its goal is to help the next generation of electric vehicles to hit the road in Michigan.

The program will offer rebates to customers for electric vehicle charging stations at home, work and in public locations. The energy company will also offer special electric rates for electric vehicle owners to charge their vehicles at off-peak times.

The program was announced at 10:30 Wednesday morning at the Michigan Public Service Commission in the Lake Michigan Hearing Room located at 7109 West Saginaw Highway in Lansing.

Brian Rich, Consumers Energy's senior vice president for customer experience and members of the Michigan Public Service Commission were also at the event.
