JACKSON COUNTY, Mich. — A hearing to determine if a Jackson County man is competent to stand trial on charges connected to the shooting of his young son is set to happen next week.

Court records show a competency hearing is scheduled for Michael Glance on June 14.

A Jackson County judge ordered Glance to undergo a mental health evaluation in late April.

Jackson police say Glance intentionally shot his two-year-old son Ryker, after getting an argument with the boy's mother at his home in the 400 block of Barrett Avenue in Blackman Township on Tuesday, April 16.

Ryker has undergone several surgeries and has since been recovering at home from being released from C.S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor.

Glance faces up to life in prison if convicted.
