A Texas based company will pay a hefty fine for having deceptive labels on clothing donation bins across Michigan.
American Textile Recycling Service agreed to pay $75,000 in a settlement with the Michigan Attorney General's Office.
Signs on the bins claimed the Michigan Humane Society was receiving 100 percent of the money from the donations. But an investigation revealed the Humane Society was only receiving 6 percent.
As part of the settlement, ATRS must also fix the signs on the donation bins, stating the correct per pound donation amount to the Michigan Humane Society.
ATRS operates more than 250 clothing bins in Lansing, Jackson and other parts of the state.
