Ingham County Board of Commissioners are set to clear up confusion over who is in charge of the Director of Ingham County Animal Control.

Commissioners on the Law and Courts Committee will discuss an ordinance that will let the County Controller supervise and terminate the Animal Control Director.

During a commissioners meeting last July, several people including commissioners themselves were surprised to learn the County Controller was not in charge of the Director.

It was during that meeting that Commissioners voted to suspend then Director John Dinon and then Deputy Director Ann Burns.

An ordinance to make the County Controller in charge of the shelter's director was written several years ago but it was not put in place.

An ordinance commissioners are scheduled to discuss Thursday evening would do just that. The Board could also choose to retain the authority to supervise and terminate the Director.

The public will have a chance to weigh in at Thursday's meeting which starts at 6 PM at the Human Services Building at 5303 S. Cedar St.
