OKEMOS, Mich. — The Meridian Township Planning Commission has recommended the township's Board of Trustees approve a redevelopment project for downtown Okemos.

The commission voted "yes" on the project referred to as the Village of Okemos during a meeting Monday night.

The $100 million dollar project calls for demolishing all of the buildings bordered by Ardmore Avenue, Okemos Road, and Methodist and Clinton streets.

The plan calls for seven new buildings which would include places for shops, restaurants, and apartments to replace the torn down buildings.

Douglas J. Salon would also take up commercial space in the plan.

You can find full all documents related to plan on the township's website.

No word yet on when the Meridian Township Board of Trustees will vote on the plan.
