ALBION, Mich. — People who got their caffeine fix at two local Biggbys were helping a family in need today.

The owners stepped up when a friend was seriously injured.

The Harding and Neelis families have been friends for years, so when Drew Harding was injured at work, Randy and Brandy Neelis knew they had to help.

Drew's wife Samantha says he was pinned between two pieces of equipment.

He's had multiple surgeries for broken legs and vascular damage.

The community has stepped up to help.

"You just feel so loved. You never feel alone, and that's really important because it helps keep you strong," said Samantha.

The Neelis's own Biggby stores in Albion and Jackson and on Tuesday they donated all the proceeds to their friends the Hardings.

"This has really reached out as far south as Hillsdale, Quincy area and that and as far north as the Lansing market," said Randy.

"It's going to make it easier for me to take care of my husband. I don't have to worry so much about going back to work or the financial burden that also comes along with this," said Samantha.
