The Jackson County Clerk has approved three of six petitions asking for the recall of Jackson City Councilman Derek Dobies. Six petitions were filed, but three did not get approved.
The recall petitions list three reasons: 1) Dobies' votes in favor of the city's non-discrimination ordinance, 2) Being in favor of the construction on Kerby Road, and 3) a motion to appoint the city manager to temporarily serve as city clerk.
Dobies says he will appeal the decision to circuit court. He claims the petitions don't follow the letter or the spirit of the law.
Derek Dobies plans to run for Jackson City Mayor this year.
