LANSING, Mich. — For nearly 75 years, Clark Construction has built a reputation that centers on community, teamwork and safety. Those values spurred a recent donation to feed hungry Michiganders during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The company, headquartered in Lansing, created a GoFundMe initiative to raise funds for food banks, healthcare workers and community-based organizations. Clark Construction matched employee donations dollar-for-dollar.
“At Clark Construction Company, we care deeply about our community. This includes the frontline healthcare workers working tirelessly to serve us and fight the COVID-19 virus, as well as members of our community who are in need of food at this time,” said Clark Construction President Sam Clark. “This initiative is a gesture to our core values as well as our ‘Clark Cares’ and ‘Living our Values’ initiatives.”
The Food Bank Council of Michigan earned a spot on the list for its tireless efforts to feed thousands of individuals, families and seniors in need of emergency food. The $8,000 raised by Clark Construction will benefit the work of the Council’s seven regional foodbanks that feed residents in all Michigan’s 83 counties.
“When a gift is received that comes from an organization facing its own challenges caused by COVID-19, it is all the more meaningful,” said Dr. Phil Knight, executive director, Food Bank Council of Michigan. “Clark Construction and its employees have come up alongside of us so that food is one worry families won’t have to face during these difficult times.”
The Clark Construction donation will go toward the Food Bank Council’s Virtual Food Drive that has raised over $140,000 to date. As part of this statewide initiative, donors also can choose to provide Senior Quarantine Boxes that provide 22 healthy meals for a $28 donation.
