City to release inspection reports into housing complex following fatal fire

Posted

We're expecting new information Tuesday about the condition of a Lansing housing complex where a mother and her young son died in a fire earlier this year.

Mayor Andy Schor is scheduled to release the code inspection reports for the LaRoy Froh Complex on Reo Road.

Investigators have said they do not know what caused the June 7, 2018 fire that killed 43-year-old
Tarshrikia Beasley and her 5-year-old son, Elijah Brown.

The LaRoy Froh complex failed a city inspection in 2016, but passed a federal inspection in 2017.

Shortly after the fire, Mayor Schor said city inspection reports could not have prevented the fire.

Mayor Schor will release the inspection reports into LaRoy Froh and South Washington Complex, as well as a plan moving forward at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Lansing City Hall.
