LANSING, Mich. — Election season is upon us.
Lansing City Clerk Chris Swope told Fox 47 that city general election absentee ballots are being prepped to be mailed out.
Thousands of ballots will be mailed on September 27.
On Tuesday, a crew of election workers will spend two days getting the first batch of ballots ready to be mailed.
"We're mailing out 10,000 on Friday and then we're continuing to get requests so we'll be mailing out up until we can mail them out up until the Friday before election, and people can pick up an absentee ballot in person until the Monday before the election until 4 p.m.," Swope said.
They will also be processing absentee applications.
Swope's office says that twice as many ballots are being mailed as the August primary.
They say this is due to the fact that over 5,000 additional voters have signed up for the automatic application list to vote from home.
