LANSING, Mich. — Lansing and East Lansing will collect Christmas trees on Monday.
The city of Lansing will collect the trees through the week of January 14th.
Trees should be placed curbside on the same day that blue trash bags, blue trash cans, and green recycling carts are collected.
The trees should be free of plastic bags, metal, and ornaments. Trees longer than six-feet will have to be cut in half as well.
Only trees will be accepted during this time. Leaves and other yard waste materials will not be accepted.
East Lansing residents are encouraged to take advantage of extra, free, City-wide curbside recycling day on Monday.
These collection days are being offered in addition to residents' normal curbside recycling days. Residents can fill their carts with clean, accepted items and place them at the curb for collection. All items need to be placed inside the cart with lids closed.
Yard waste and bulk items are not included and all bags must weigh no more than 40 pounds.
Granger will once again be collecting Christmas trees this winter. All Christmas trees must be live-cut and free of decorations. Trees or sections of trees can be no longer than four feet. The following are options for disposal:
You're asked to place your live-cut Christmas tree next to your Curby Cart or bags on your trash collection day starting the week of January 7, 2019. Granger will collect Christmas trees from existing customers at the curb for $10.00 per tree or section of the tree. Customers do not need to arrange this service in advance.

Haul your tree to the Granger Disposal Center of Lansing (16500 Wood Rd, Lansing). The cost is $6.00 per tree or section of the tree. Hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturday, 7 a.m. to noon.
All Christmas trees collected curbside will be taken to Granger's landfill where they will be used to make renewable energy. Trees brought to the Disposal Center will be treated as yard waste.
