SPRINGFIELD, Mich. (WSYM) - A Calhoun County man was arrested when police say he left his child in a vehicle while he drank inside a business.
Calhoun County Sheriff deputies were called to a business around 12:45 a.m. Saturday on the 100 block of Avenue A in Springfield, outside of Battle Creek.
When deputies arrived, they found a one-year-old child inside a vehicle with no one around.
The child's father was found inside the business where he says he went to have a drink.
The father is being identified as a 32-year-old Battle Creek man who is facing child neglect charges.
Child Protective Services have since turned the child over to mom, who wasn't aware of the incident.
The child was not hurt.
