Child dies, others hurt in US 127 crash in Jackson Co.

At 4:45 PM on 8/26/18, Jackson County Dispatch received a call of a two vehicle traffic crash. A minivan was pulling out of a private drive to head northbound on US 127. A passenger car south of the van, also heading northbound, was traveling at a high rate of speed and passing vehicles on the shoulder. The passenger car struck the rear of the van, which rolled over several times. Several witnesses stopped to provide first aid to the injured.

 

All four occupants of the van sustained injuries. They were all transported to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital by Jackson County Ambulance. The adult driver and passenger were treated for minor injuries. One small child was ejected from the vehicle and later pronounced deceased at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital. A second small child was lift flighted to the University of Michigan Hospital.

 

Both occupants of the passenger car were transported to Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital by Jackson County Ambulance. The driver suffered minor injuries. The passenger was treated at Henry Ford Allegiance Hospital for unknown injuries.

 

Speed is a factor in the crash.

 

The investigation is ongoing.
