For the first time ever, an icon of Detroit is showing off his Spartan spirit.
The 26-foot tall "Spirit of Detroit" statue, which sits outside the Coleman A. Young Center on Woodward Avenue, was dressed in an over-sized MSU jersey Monday morning to celebrate the Spartans’ appearance in the College Football Playoff later this month.
MSU plays Alabama on December 31 at 8pm in the Cotton Bowl Classic in Arlington, Texas. The game will be televised on ESPN.
