Charlotte High School Relay for Life Team Breaks Record

LANSING, Mich. — On behalf of the Charlotte High School Relay For Life Team, we would like to send out a huge thank you to all the people who came out to the CHS Hooping For A Cure basketball fundraiser on February 22nd. We raised over $7,424 for Relay For Life and cancer research. In addition, we sold 540 Hooping For A Cure t-shirts. This was a record setting year, exceeding the past 14 years.

A special thanks to the following businesses, people, and groups for making this happen: The Charlotte Public School students, teachers, administrators, custodians, bus drivers and secretaries who volunteered their time selling shirts, donating money, and helping at the game; CHS student’s Madison Auten, Parker Auten, Sam Peasely and Stanley Bullard for singing the national anthem; CHS Drumline; CHS Color Guard, the Charlotte Athletic Boosters; CPS administrators and board members; Michigan State Basketball Coaches Tom Izzo and Suzy Merchant and MSU Football coach Mark Dantonio for the autographed balls; Amy Ramos at The Thirsty Bird Bar and Kitchen for the pasta dinner before the game; The Bruce Family at Insty Prints; Frank Sanborn at Sanborn Signcrafters; Kevin Bowen at Silk Screen Stuff Plus for all the t-shirts; F.O.P. Maple City Lodge #178; The County Journal; John Forte at What’s Your Forte; Matt DeLeeuw for the Kirk Cousins signed helmet; Coca-Cola of Greater Lansing; Ben Phlegar for the Amazon gift card, Michael Fulmer Ball, and Ron Gardenhire picture; The Detroit Redwings; Meijers; Walmart; The Lansing Lugnuts for the Lugnuts tickets; Charlotte Plaza Floral; Dale McGilvra, Kyle Jones, and Jordan Tropp for reffing; Mr. Phelgar for announcing; Ms. Nevins for running the score clock; Patrick “Robin” Monroe; Amaya Pena, CHS junior, for the t-shirt design; CHS Relay For Life captains Karson Klont, Elise Crossman, Dawson Craven, Madi Fisher, Jada Brown, Maddie Sanders, Alex Hulsebus and Mili Argumedo. Lastly, a huge thank you to the community of Charlotte for supporting this cause.
