An executive from a Texas-based restaurant chain plans to meet with American Legion groups in Michigan and discuss dress code policy changes after some group members were told they weren't permitted to wear their affiliated jackets.
The Grand Rapids Press reports Wednesday that Texas-based Dave & Buster's is reviewing its dress code policy after the Saturday incident at its location in Kentwood, near Grand Rapids. Members of American Legion Riders Post 179 were told to remove the jackets, turn them inside out or leave.
Officials initially said the rule, which pertains to clothing signifying gang affiliation, was applied to the group "for consistency reasons." Company leaders have apologized and seek input from veterans groups.
The vests have patches of a bald eagle and American and Prisoner of War flags.
