A car crashed into the front of a Marathon gas station, drove through it, crossed the street, hit a pole, and caught on fire in Dimondale early Sunday morning.

The Eaton County Sheriff's Department responded to the crash. The driver was able to get out of the car after the crash, and was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver is a 57-year-old Lansing man. He ran into the Marathon gas station at the corner of Creyts and East Rd in Dimondale.

That intersection was closed for several hours while the sheriff's department and Windsor Township Fire Department and EMS investigated the accident.

The Eaton County Sheriff's Department says it believes alcohol and speed were factors that could have caused the accident.
