Car break-ins caught on camera

Posted

Another string of car break-ins were caught on camera in Mid-Michigan.

Earlier this week, we showed you footage of a man busting out a window and ransacking a car in Jackson.

Now, the same crime is spreading through a neighborhood in Lansing.

Fox 47's Cryss Walker talked with people on edge.

“It appears to be common and they're just going into cars when they're left unlocked or just breaking in whenever they you know see any sort of opportunity”, said Elisabeth Anderson, who lives in Lansing’s west-side neighborhood.

Thursday night home owners went to Facebook to warn other neighbors about the car break-ins after two different incidents were recorded on home security systems in the same night.

“I got a video text on my phone and it showed someone walking up the driveway to my car, which I knew was further up the driveway”, said Mike Rowe.

Just a few blocks over on Jenison, another system caught the thief in action, sending neighbors on high alert.

“Last night my daughter came running down stairs and said they caught someone on camera breaking into the car across the street”, said Anthony DelReal.

“Then coming across the street and trying to break into her car”, DelReal continued.

West-side neighborhood residents say they want to spread the word to remind people to keep their car doors locked.

Fox 47 reached out to the Lansing Police Department to see if any arrests have been made.

We're still waiting to hear back.

We'll update you when we get more information.
