Lansing Police say a man found dead after the car he was driving hit a tree, suffered a gunshot wound. Police are now investigating his death as a homicide.
The accident happened at 3:45 Sunday morning on the 600 block of W. Lapeer.
Officers who responded say they found a 33 year-old man unconscious inside the vehicle. He was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
An autopsy was performed Monday and revealed on the victim died from a gunshot wound. Lansing Police along with Michigan State Police are actively investigating this homicide.
Investigators are gathering information and interviewing witnesses to learn what led up to the shooting and the accident.
